INTRODUCTION

Detached chalet with two spacious apartments in an enviable position in one of Slovenia's prettiest alpine villages just 2 km from Kranjska Gora, Slovenia’s best known mountain resort, and 3 minutes walk to ski lifts on the Podkoren side of the Kranjska Gora ski area. This excellent Kranjska Gora Chalet features two one bedroom apartments with balconies overlooking the world Cup ski slopes plus two additional bedrooms which can be taken depending on group size. Gorska Hiša also offers a garden and a sauna to ease the aches and pains after a hard day in the mountains. Podkoren village itself is a lovely place to soak up the alpine atmosphere especially during World Cup ski weekend when Gorska Hiša offers front row seats for the action, but also in Summer months when there are wealth of outstanding outdoor activities on offer.

Podkoren is one of Slovenia's prettiest mountain villages with lovely alpine architecture set around an attractive square with excellent restauant just 2km from Kranjska Gora, Slovenia's best known mountain resort. Gorska Hiša is a couple of minutes walk to the centre and 3 minutes walk to the Podkoren side of the Kranjska Gora ski pistes.

The apartments are in a spacious chalet just out of the centre of the village with lovely views of the World Cup Ski Pistes and Julian Alps. Not many Kranjska Gora chalets offer the opportunity for guests to watch the annual World Cup races from the comfort of their own balcony!

On the border with Austria & Italy, Kranjska Gora is the most famous mountain resort in Slovenia. The skiing is the main draw for many people – Kranjska Gora is a superb resort for families and beginner – intermediate level skiers, with pistes easily accessible from Podkoren or the Kranjska Gora side and a range of other Winter sports in proximity - cross country skiing, sled dog tours, skidoo tours, ice climbing, ski mountaineering & ice skating.

But with stunning mountain scenery, great access to the Triglav National park and a host of Summer outdoor pursuits it remains very popular all year round. Walking is one of the main Summer attractions with a huge range of beautiful trails to suit all abilities. Running through Podkoren is also a wonderful cycling trail on an old railway track runs 30km from the bottom of the Upper Sava Valley into Italy. There is also a huge range of mountain biking in the region including an World Cup mountain bike park on the Kranjska Gora ski slopes. There is also a Summer sledging piste on the ski slopes which is very popular with kids.

The town of Kranjska Gora itself is a pretty alpine affair, very family friendly, with lots of lively restaurants, bars and a couple of swimming pools / spas. Around Kranjska Gora are a number of extremely pretty villages (including Podkoren, Rateče, Mojstrana, Dovje) in idyllic mountain surroundings.

THE ACCOMMODATION

Gorksa Hiša is a detached chalet with two x one bedroom apartments on the first floor, with two extra bedrooms on the ground floor which are rented to give additional space as required depending on group size. This means the house works for groups of up to 10 people. The ground floor features a sauna with shower shared between the two apartments. In addition to this there are two spacious bedrooms each with 2 twin beds (which can be pushed together if required). There is also the access door to the terrace and garden. On the first floor, Apartment 1 has 1 double bedroom, a lovely spacious open plan living room, dining area and kitchen, bathroom and an additional WC. There is also access onto a sunny balcony with table and chairs and lovely mountain views including the Podkoren World Cup Ski pistes. On the second floor Apartment 2 has a good sized open plan living & dining area with kitchen, access onto sunny balcony with great views of Julian Alps and world cup ski pistes and a very spacious bedroom with double bed. The sofa in the living room coverts into a small double bed usually recommended for kids.

Each apartment has 1 bathroom with bidet, sink, shaver point and shower. There is an additional toilet, with sink in each apartment. Bathrooms are simple and functinal rather than luxurious.

Apartment 1 - Electric oven, gas hob. Fridge with freezer compartment, double sink. Kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery, kitchen utensils.

Both apartments have TV and DVD player. One of the extra bedrooms also has a TV. Wireless internet is available in both apartments; also cable TV with a number of English channels as well as foreign.

Ap1 has a book and DVD collection. Ap2 has a DVD collection.

Parking Car parking is not a problem as there is private parking space for at least 3 cars at the front of the house adjacent to the large patio area.
