In winter there is skiing just 5 minutes drive or bus away at Kranjska Gora Ski Resort, a superb resort for families and beginner – intermediate level skiers. The excellent resort of Tarvisio Monte Lussari in Italy is just 15 minutes drive from the house and the resorts of Bovec -Sella Nevea (Italy – Slovenia), Arnoldstein Deilandereck & Gerlitzen (Austria) are cca 30 minutes drive, with a number of other resorts reachable as an easy day trip within an hour. Skiing at 3 resorts in 3 countries in a weekend is an unforgettable experience that is easily possible from Villa Planina. There is extensive cross country skiing in walking distance of the house and the house is one of the closest places to stay to the annual World Cup Ski Jumping at Ratece Planica - the world’s highest and most famous ski jumping venue.
Kranjska Gora itself is the most famous mountain resort in Slovenia, hosting annual world cup skiing and ski-jumping events. But with stunning mountain scenery, great access to the Triglav National Park and a host of outdoor pursuits (e.g. walking, mountain biking, horse riding) it remains very popular all year round. Lake Jasna, a short walk out of the centre of Kranjska Gora offers a stunning place to swim and sunbathe in beautiful mountain scenery. The town itself is a pretty alpine affair, very family friendly, with lots of lively restaurants, bars and a couple of swimming pools / spas. There is a regular daily bus service between Ratece and Kranjska Gora, great for getting to the ski slopes.

La zona è meno frequentata degli altre località slovene ma non per questo meno bella e interessante. La sala giochi con biliardo e ping pong sono piaciute moltissimo ai bimbi, ma non solo. Zahvaljujemo se za prijeten oddih. V Ratečah smo zelo zadovoljnji z nastanitvijo, vse je čisto in lepo urejeno seveda pa mora tudi g. Marko biti deležen pohvale. Smo se pa že dogovorili med seboj da gremo tudi naslednje leto v Rateče, vendar ker je vsega lepega hitro konec smo se odločili da gremo za sedem dni.

The apartment is very very cute and comfortable. There were towels, tools in the kitchen and all we need for our stay. Dan and others colleagues are very polite, reliable and at disposal for anything. We played pool which is in the ground floor. Here you can also find some DVDs and some books. I think that Villa Planina and Dan are perfect if you want to go on holiday.
We liked the apartment: the views are lovely, everything is very new and it's confortable and spacious. It's not far from the main road so you can hear cars passing, but there's not too much traffic especially at night.

The one bedroomed apartment was ideal for the two of us and we had a great holiday. Ratece is a lovely unspoilt village, five minutes by car from more facilities in Kranjska Gora. It is an excellent centre for walking. We mainly walked in the mountains, but also did some sight seeing (Bled and Bohinj) and drove to Jesenice (1/2 hour's drive) and got the train to Ljubljana. The housekeepers were very helpful and told us about the "3 borders fiesta" up a local hill, which we really enjoyed
We are satisfied with all the arrangements from Think Slovenia. Everything worked as intended and these days were great for everybody. Thus I would like to reserve Villa Planina for Planica next year if possible. I also would like to express many thanks for excellent service andcooperation.
