Part of the Julian Alps, Mangart Mountain is on the Italian-Slovenian border and towers at an impressive 2,679 m; the 3rd highest peak in Slovenia. First climbed in 1794, Mangart mountain is very popular with visitors during the summer season. It offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and into Italy and the Fusine lakes below.

The road running up to Mangartsko Sedlo (Mangart Pass) is the highest lying road in Slovenia at 2,072 m. A 17.5 km bike ride to Mangart takes place every August; starting in Log pod Mangartom and ending at Mangart Pass. The height difference for the ride is a meager 1,398 m.
