Lake Bled and its many facilities and attractions is just a few minutes away by car or bus (3km) and in the other direction just a few minutes drive away is the charming medieval town of Radovljica, featuring some of Slovenia’s best restaurants. The Bled area is surrounded by beautiful scenery and things to do from walks around the lovely Vintgar Gorge and various hills surrounding the lake to great mountain walking and mountain biking on the Pokljuka Plateau, kayaking canyoning and rafting on the Sava River and its tributaries, as well of course as swimming and boating on Lake Bled itself.
There is some great walking and cycling from the doorstep of Sava View Apartments as well as fly fishing which is possible on the Sava River in walking distance of the house. The Bled area is a great place to be based for exploring Slovenia's many ski areas - Vogel, Krvavec & Kranjska Gora which are each half an hour's drive away (or there is a ski bus from Bled to Vogel / Krvavec). Many of our outdoor activities were only a few minutes away, which means we were able to pop back to apartment for lunch or for a rest between activities. The apartment itself was spotless, cozy, and well-maintained, and we truly felt at home during our stay. We were impressed by how responsive the hosts were. At one stage we ran out of garbage bags on a public holiday when all the local stores were closed. The hosts replied to our messages promptly and offered to bring more bags. It is a good distance out of the busyness of Bled - traffic in and out of the town was very busy in August and parking is very expensive so it was nice to stay off the beaten track. We especially loved the little beach 10 mins walk away as the river is beautiful and refreshing! We enjoyed visiting Lake Bohinj, Skofja Loka, Radovlijica during our stay, and a particular highlight was Zipline Dolinka - an exhilarating way to see a bit more of the area!

We spent many wonderful days exploring Lake Bled, swimming in the Lake and dining in brilliant restaurants – there is great choice for all. Lake Bohinj is nearby and we had many lovely picnics there, we hiked up to the waterfall and saw breath-taking scenery. Ljubljana is nearby too, we had a couple of fantastic day trips there to explore the castle and city, Postojna Cave is also worth a visit – amazing! The apartment is perfectly situated to explore all of this, or just sit back and relax on the balcony with a glass of wine – an absolutely perfect holiday and we wish we were still there!
