Lake Zbilje
Created in 1953, Zbiljsko Jezero is an artifical lake formed from when the Sava River was dammed to provide water to the nearby Medvode hydroelectric power station. The lake is now an important habitat for many bird species as well as being a popular tourist attraction.
A great spot for a day trip, you can either spend your day relaxing in an outdoor bar or take an active approach and rent a boat or canoe to explore the lakes surface and shores. There is also a playground for the kids, beach volley ball and a bbq area. Resting beside the village of Zbilje, it's possbile to cross the lake by bridge to the nearby village of Valburga, located under Smlednik Castle.
