Hiša Cherry Orchard House se nahaja v vasi Šmartno, samo nekaj minut hoje od centra, in ponuja prekrasen razgled na griče, posejane z vinogradi, sadovnjaki in malimi vasicami. Šmartno je poznano po svojem obzidju, tipičnih tlakovanih ulicah in tradicionalnih kamnitih stavbah ter prečudovitem razgledu na celoten vinoroden okoliš ter vse do Alp. Regija skriva mnogo neraziskanih vasic, neskončnih poti po vinogradih ter številne vinske kleti in odlične restavracije. Poznana je tudi po svojih festivalih vina in češenj, med drugim Brda in vino, ki se odvija spomladi. Lokalna kulinarika gre z roko v roki z odličnimi domačimi sortami vina. Drugi zanimivi predeli Goriških brd so stolp v Gorjačah s svojim panoramskim razgledom na regijo, grad v Dobrovem, Kras s Škocjanskimi jamami in Postojnsko jamo, Lipica, italijanska obala in Trst so manj kot uro vožnje stran, italijanska mesta Benetke, Videm in Čedad pa so primerni za krajši izlet ter prav tako slovenska obala. Na drugi strani pa so možni izleti v Soško dolino in slovenske Alpe.

Cherry Orchard House je prekrasna, prenovljena počitniška hiša, ki je s kvalitetno in premišljeno prenovo obdržala karakteristike tipične briške hiše s tramovi, kamnitimi okenskimi okviri, tradicionalnimi vrati in polkni in ima hrastov parket po celotni hiši. Hiša je prostorna s tremi spalnicami in sprejme do 9 gostov. Ker so lastniki želeli čim bolj izkoristiti razgled, se spalnice nahajajo v spodnjem nadstropju, dnevni del pa v zgornjem. Spodnji vhod vodi do dveh velikih spalnic, vsaka s svojo kopalnico, utility in stopnice, ki vodijo v vinsko klet in v prvo nadstropje.
Na vrhu stopnic se odpre velik, prostoren dnevni prostor z balkonom, s katerega se odkriva čudovit razgled. Del tega prostora je odprti tip kuhinje z velikim kuhinjskim otokom. Kuhinja je v celoti opremljena z visokokakovostno belo tehniko. Tu prav tako najdemo veliko jedilno mizo za 10 oseb ter veliko sedežno na drugi strani, ki je obrnjena proti kaminu za zimske dni, televizijo in wifi. V tem nadstropju se nahaja tudi tretja kopalnica z dvojnim umivalnikom, kadjo ter tušem. S kopalnico je povezana otroška soba z dvema pogradoma in sedežna, ki se po potrebi spremeni v dvojno ležišče.
Na vrt vodijo lesena vrata, ki omogočajo zasebnost na velikem vrtu s češnjami. Vrt se nadaljuje v prostorno teraso na robu hiše s figovim grmom in vrtnim pohištvom ter prekrasnim razgledom na okoliš. Terasa je povezana z balkonom v dnevni sobi. Vrt je odličen za uživanje v razgledu in sprostitev, medtem ko se otroci lahko igrajo na plezalni steni.

Our family of 5 felt very lucky to be able to stay in the beautiful Cherry Orchard House. It had everything we needed to make our holiday comfortable and was in an excellent location for exploring the medieval village, and the surrounding countryside. We had some lovely meals in the village and did some of the trails from there. We found the tourist information centre staff in the village very helpful and friendly. We visited the Skocjan caves which were amazing and we did white water rafting near Bovec. We will cherish our memories of a wonderful holiday home and a truly beautiful country.

The house itself is very impressive with a huge open plan living/dining/kitchen area and a perfect blend of modern and traditional features. The kitchen has everything you need and more and the whole place was immaculately clean and spacious. The extensive gardens with cherry orchard and vineyard are idyllic. We particularly loved eating outside of an evening, using the fire pit, and looking out at the incredible views. The local area is also stunning - plenty of local villages to explore, rivers to swim in and delicious food to enjoy. Smartno itself is in easy walking distance and has a good restaurant so you could easily spend a few days here without the need to venture further afield. We’re looking forward to another stay in Cherry Orchard House and would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings.

Cherry Orchard House was even better than we'd expected. Clean, bright, well-equipped, comfortable beds, ensuite bathroom with every bedroom. Our children slept upstairs and were perfectly comfortable. We found all the beds very comforable. Weather was summery and we had no issue with the temperature inside. Really appreciated the fresh new house renovated in full respect and style of the local area. So refreshing to experience taste, convenience and authenticity without any touristy kitsch. The view of the Slovenian countryside took our breath away. The unspoiled hilltop village of Smartno steps away was serene and charming with just the right services and attractions. Cherry Orchard House was the perfect temporary home for our discovery of the Soca Valley.

Beautiful and immaculate base for exploring Slovenia
This was our first ever trip to Slovenia and we loved it so much we've been back again since. The property is newly renovated and is light, spacious and immaculately clean. The owners have clearly taken great care to create a relaxed, contemporary feel, while still giving a nod to local style architecture. The upstairs open-plan kitchen / diner / living room was perfect for us as a family and group of friends - a social space full of light and warmth in October. The downstairs bedrooms were incredibly comfortable and decorated with tasteful simplicity, with gorgeous ensuite shower rooms! Smartno itself is a stunning medieval village on a hilltop overlooking the foothills of the Julian Alps, covered with vineyards and fruit trees. We were only a short drive from the Italian border too, so it made the perfect base to explore both Slovenia and that part of Italy. Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj are both a day trip away and are both amazing - well worth a visit. We have really enjoyed our two stays at Cherry Orchard House, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

Our family had a fantastic stay in Orchard House. From a warm welcome, with a bottle of wine from the owners vinyard, to the end of the stay, this area of Slovenia is well worth a visit. We particularly enjoyed the open living space and outdoor fire pit. It was a lovely way to spend an evening with a glass of local wine. The house was very well restored and came with amazing views. The local medieval town was also conveniently walkable and the local restaurant is thoroughly recommended. Thank you for a great stay; we would certainly return to explore some more of the area. There’s a huge amount to discover.

Lovely clean, comfortable house and a great base for exploring Slovenia. Stunning rural views but on the edge of an historic village so easy walk to restaurant and bar if you don't want to cook (kitchen v well kitted-out though). We had a magical visit during the cherry harvest and even stumbled on the local Cherry Festival!

We were a group of three families and it was our first time in Slovenia. Such a hidden gem – both the country and the house. The house was recently extensively refurbished and is stunning - well planned out with the living area upstairs to make the most of the view. The open plan living area was great for meals and hanging out with the other families and we had some fun evenings toasting marshmallows on the firepit outside and enjoying the local wine. Smartno is also definitely worth a visit for a stroll and drink. We have such fond memories of our time at Cherry Orchard House and would highly recommend.

A beautiful, spacious, home with spectacular view
Cherry Orchard House was even better than we'd expected. Clean, bright, well-equipped, comfortable beds, ensuite bathroom with every bedroom. Our children slept upstairs and were perfectly comfortable. We found all the beds very comforable. Weather was summery and we had no issue with the temperature inside. Really appreciated the fresh new house renovated in full respect and style of the local area. So refreshing to experience taste, convenience and authenticity without any touristy kitsch. The view of the Slovenian countryside took our breath away. The unspoiled hilltop village of Smartno steps away was serene and charming with just the right services and attractions. Cherry Orchard House was the perfect temporary home for our discovery of the Soca Valley.

Beautiful and immaculate base for exploring Slovenia
This was our first ever trip to Slovenia and we loved it so much we've been back again since. The property is newly renovated and is light, spacious and immaculately clean. The owners have clearly taken great care to create a relaxed, contemporary feel, while still giving a nod to local style architecture. The upstairs open-plan kitchen / diner / living room was perfect for us as a family and group of friends - a social space full of light and warmth in October. The downstairs bedrooms were incredibly comfortable and decorated with tasteful simplicity, with gorgeous ensuite shower rooms! Smartno itself is a stunning medieval village on a hilltop overlooking the foothills of the Julian Alps, covered with vineyards and fruit trees. We were only a short drive from the Italian border too, so it made the perfect base to explore both Slovenia and that part of Italy. Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj are both a day trip away and are both amazing - well worth a visit. We have really enjoyed our two stays at Cherry Orchard House, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

Wonderful Stay
Our family had a fantastic stay in Orchard House. From a warm welcome, with a bottle of wine from the owners vinyard, to the end of the stay, this area of Slovenia is well worth a visit. We particularly enjoyed the open living space and outdoor fire pit. It was a lovely way to spend an evening with a glass of local wine. The house was very well restored and came with amazing views. The local medieval town was also conveniently walkable and the local restaurant is thoroughly recommended. Thank you for a great stay; we would certainly return to explore some more of the area. There’s a huge amount to discover.

A real find - beautifully renovated in a stunning location
Lovely clean, comfortable house and a great base for exploring Slovenia. Stunning rural views but on the edge of an historic village so easy walk to restaurant and bar if you don't want to cook (kitchen v well kitted-out though). We had a magical visit during the cherry harvest and even stumbled on the local Cherry Festival!

Nahaja se v osrčju vasi Stara Fužina ob mostu čez reko Mostnica, v neposredni bližini trgovin in restavracij, le 15 minut hoje do kopališč na Bohinjskem jezeru.
