Rudnica House is located 6km from Lake Bohinj in Bohinjska Cesnjica, a charming and traditional Bohinj style alpine village located on the upper Bohinj Valley. The upper Bohinj Valley runs from Jereka to Stara Fuzina on the lake and is a wonderful place to be based in the Bohinj area - a little quieter than main route into Bohinj via the lower valley and packed with authentic Bohinj charm. The house itself is located in a quiet residential area surrounded by other older farmhouses in the upper part of the village away from the main road running through the village with some views over surrounding forests and hills. Just 1km away are two of the Bohinj regions best loved restaurants in the village of Srednja Vas as well as a convenience store. Further amenties (restaurants / shops) are to be found in Stara Fuzina village 4km form the house towards the lake and in the other direction , plenty more in Bohinjska Bistrica (5km) which offers various shops, bars, restaurants, bank, post office, service station and an excellent water park with ample pool and spa facilities.
Lake Bohinj itself, 5.5km away from the house (10mins drive), is a serene lake surrounded by towering peaks and pristine forests considered by many to be the most beautiful part of Slovenia. In Summer the Lake offers the opportunity for kayaking, sailing and rowing, as well as fly-fishing, swimming or just relaxing on the lake shore. The mountains of Lake Bohinj are fantastic for walking and arguably the best place to start climbs up Slovenia's highest mountain, Triglav. They also offer scope for great mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding as well as skiing.
The ski resort Vogel above Lake Bohinj is one of Slovenia’s best with good lift infrastructure and snow record. It is 15 minutes drive from the house to the Vogel cable car, which is also open in the summer giving easy access to high altitude walking and mountain biking. In the other direction from the lake the house offers easy access to the Pokljuka plateau, which offers stunning alpine pastures and forests, magnificent walking and biking routes and Slovenia’s best cross country skiing in Winter.
In the unlikely event that you run out of things to do in the Bohinj region then just 25 minutes drive away from the house is world famous Lake Bled!

The rental accommodation at Rudnica house has a practical layout - all on one floor with its main entrance at the back of the house under a covered terrace next to the garden and parking area, whilst the basement and loft levels are not in use so guests have sole usage of the whole house and garden for themselves. As you enter the house there is a main corridor with three bedrooms (two double, one twin) all of a comfortable size. On the corridor is also the bathroom and separate WC. At the end of the corridor is the entry to the main living area - a large, attractive, homely open plan kitchen, dining and sitting space with balcony access. The house offers washing machine. The covered terrace at the entrance has outdoor sitting and is a nice spot for relaxing or eating meals outside, whilst kids play in the shade of a large walnut tree in the garden. The traditional wooden farmhouse balconies at the front end of the house are a lovely place to sit with partial views of forests and hills and the farmhouse rooftops of this traditional alpine Bohinj village.
