Vila Bled, luxury hotel Slovenia,

INTRODUCTION

Vila Bled is the former residence of the Yugoslavian President Tito, so there's no surpise to find that the lakeside location overlooking the island is second to none. Surrounded by parkland and with direct lake access it is now a small luxury hotel offering a superb quality of accommodation and a fantastic restaurant in an unforgettable setting.

Vila Bled is located at the far end of the lake from the main town, which means it is generally quieter, there is space for the lovely hotel grounds and of course it is directly facing the 17th century church on Lake Bled island. The hotel has direct access fro the hotel down to the lake shore with its own private boat house and it is just a couple of minutes walk to the lake's main "beach" areas as well as a couple of decent restaurants, bars and other amenities. To walk to the centre of Bled town takes circa 15 minutes.

LOCATION INFO
Distance to the nearest… Sights Arguably Slovenia's best known view - Lake Bled island - is best seen from Vila Bled!
Restaurants There is an excellent restaurant on site with lovely terrace. There are a couple of other choices of places to eat within 5 minutes walk.
Bars

There is a bar in the main part of the hotel and also a wonderful coffee bar called the Belvedere which stands, like something out of a James Bond film, on 30m high stilts overlooking the lake and the island church. The Belvedere was originally commissioned by Yugoslav King Alexander, the owner of Vila Bled at that time as a Summer residence and was built for him by Slovenia's most famous architect Jože Plečnik. Yugoslav President Marshal Tito, the subsequent owner, hosted many eminent guests from around the world here.

Distance to the nearest airport(s)

Other useful local transport connections

Bus connections to Ljubljana and other destinations around Slovenia are available from the local bus station in lake Bled town - 5 minutes away by car. The nearest train station is at Lesce Bled 5km away.

THE ACCOMMODATION

Although Vila Bled is officially a 4 star, we feel that this perhaps does not do justice to the level of comfort and the quality of its classic 1950's style furnishings and fittings, winderful inlaid wooden floors and fantastic art works. Facilities are also excellent with great restaurant, separate coffee bar with unforgettable views, wellness centre and private lakeside lido.,
