The Trata farmhouse is a traditional alpine homestead that has been beautifully renovated combining rustic charm with modern comfort to create 3 homely apartments which can accommodate up to 20 guests. Set amidst spectacular mountain scenery in the peaceful village of Gozd Martuljek, just 3 km from the premier ski resort town of Kranjska Gora, and sitting on a 4000m2 estate comprising meadows and forests with magnificent views of the high peaks of the Julian Alps rising behind it, the Trata farmhouse is an ideal base for experiencing all that Kranjska Gora has to offer, and it offers a lot, with year round outdoor activities from hiking and biking to skiing and fishing plus much more. Or simply relax at the delightfully homely Trata farmhouse and enjoy the serenity of this beautiful alpine landscape.

LOCATION

Gozd Martuljek offers one of the prettiest alpine panoramas with views of the Špik mountain group in the Julian Alps.  Kranjska Gora, which is just 3 km away, is the most famous mountain resort in Slovenia. The skiing is the main draw for many people – Kranjska Gora is a superb resort for families and beginner – intermediate level skiers, with pistes easily accessible from Podkoren or the Kranjska Gora side and a range of other Winter sports in proximity - cross country skiing, sled dog tours, ice climbing, ski mountaineering & ice skating. With stunning mountain scenery, great access to the Triglav National Park and a host of summer outdoor pursuits it remains very popular all year round. Lake Jasna, a short walk out of the centre of Kranjska Gora offers a stunning place to swim and sunbathe in beautiful mountain scenery. Walking is one of the main summer attractions with a huge range of beautiful trails to suit all abilities.  Not far away from the Trata farmhouse there is a wonderful cycling trail on an old railway track, running 30km from the bottom of the Upper Sava Valley into Italy. There is also a huge range of mountain biking paths in the region including a World Cup mountain bike park on the Kranjska Gora ski slopes. There is also a summer sledging piste on the ski slopes which is very popular with kids. The town of Kranjska Gora itself is a pretty alpine affair, very family friendly, with lots of lively restaurants, bars and a couple of swimming pools / spas. There is a good bus service from Gozd Martuljek to Kranjska Gora, 10 - 15 times / day, from 5am to 10pm in both directions; great for getting to the ski slopes. Also good connections from Kranjska Gora to a variety of destinations in Slovenia

The nearest train stations are Jesenice (30km), Villach in Austria (30km), Tarvisio in Italy (20km)

 

LAYOUT - FACILITIES - FLOOR PLANS

The Trata farmhouse is a large traditional alpine homestead that has been lovingly renovated to create three beautifully appointed apartments. This farmhouse accommodation wonderfully combines old world charm with modern comfort, typical alpine architectural features (incl. central wood burning stove and wine cellar with vaulted ceiling) and antiques sit alongside bespoke furnishings, high end kitchen appliance and LCD TVs. From the farmstead with its terraces and balconies also offers magnificent views of the surrounding pastures and spectacular mountain landscape not least the impressive Mt Špik.

 

De Luxe Apartment:


Spread over 150m2 on the ground floor, the Trata Farmhouse’s De Luxe Apartment can accommodate up to 10 guests in 2 bedrooms with a giant castle bed which sleeps 6. It has a large living room has a large LCD TV as well as a traditional wood burning heater/ oven (perfect for wood-fired pizzas). There are two bathrooms (one with shower and toilet, the other with separate shower and WC). There is a large fully equipped kitchen complete with 100 year old stove as well as modern appliance (electric hobs, dishwasher, fridge with wine compartment, etc.), and a large solid timber dining table. The residence also has a staircase library and a beautiful wine cellar with vaulted ceilings and a large handmade table and benches for 16 people, fitted out with antique furniture as well as a modern stereo system. De Luxe Apartment also opens onto a terrace with spectacular views of Mt Špik in the Julian Alps which rises steeply behind the property. 


Studio Apartment:


Located on the ground floor of the Trata Farmhouse, the studio apartment (39m2) can accommodate up to 4 guests with a bedroom and two sofa beds in the living room and, bathroom with shower and toilet. There is a spacious open plan kitchenette (well-equipped incl. electric hobs, microwave & fridge)/ living/ and dining area with large rustic dining table. The studio also opens onto a terrace with spectacular views of Mt Špik in the Julian Alps which rises steeply behind the property.


Two Bedroom Apartment:


Located on the first floor of the Trata Farmhouse this 2 bedroom apartment (55m2) with day bed in the living room can accommodate up to 6 persons.  The master features a queen bed with the second bedroom housing a double and a single bed. There is an open plan compact kitchen (well-equipped incl. oven, electric hobs, microwave & fridge), dining and living area with day bed which can sleep 1 guest. The apartment also has a balcony offering spectacular views of Mt Špik in the Julian Alps which rises steeply behind the property.
