Stiska Vas Alpine Lodge is in a wonderful secluded position at circa 1000m above sea level with superb open 180 degree views of the Ljubljana valley. The house is in striking distance of great skiing at Krvavec (10 minutes drive to the pistes at the top of Krvavec or the same down the mountain to the gondola) which is arguably Slovenia’s best all round ski area with a good range of skiing for all abilities, decent lift infrastructure and a long season thanks to artificial snow making and reasonably high altitude. From the house it is usually possible to drive up to the top of the mountain in Winter (in some snow conditions a 4x4 is advisable) meaning that you can be on the piste in 10 minutes of leaving the house. The area also offers a wide range of outdoor activities in Summer including paragliding, mountain biking (the gondola runs in the Summer offering a great circuit from the house to the gondola to the top of the mountain and down again) and great mountain walking (Krvavec is crisscrossed with many different mountain trails to suit all abilities. It is also a start point for treks to the top of Grintovec, the highest mountain in the Kamniske Savinjske Alps at 2558m2 and various other peaks and multi day treks).

From the tranquil and pristine mountain setting you would never guess that it was only 15 minutes drive to Ljubljana airport making it a fantastically accessible Slovenia chalet especially for weekend ski trips. The chalet is also very well positioned for exploring some of Slovenia’s most beautiful sights – Ljubljana, Lake Bled, Skofja Loka, Kamnik & Velika Planina are all within an hours drive and make fantastic day trips. Most local facilities are located in the pretty town of Cerklje 10 minutes drive from the chalet on the valley floor. Facilities include supermarket, bakery, butcher, petrol station, bank, pharmacy and a variety of excellent pizzerias and restaurants. There is also a good local restaurant with fantastic views within 5 minutes drive further up the mountain and further options at the resort of Krvavec itself at the top of the mountain.
