INTRODUCTION

The Red House, Spodnje Gorje is a newly renovated property on the edge of Spodnje Gorje village, just a few kilometres from world famous Lake Bled, named by Yahoo Travel as one of the World's 10 Most Beautiful Lakes. With river and mountain views on the border of Triglav National Park, the house comfortably sleeps six people in three generously proportioned bedrooms; all with river views. The area is popular with outdoor types - hiking, fishing, swimming, skiing, caving, biking and white water rafting are all nearby. There are a number of great excursions locally, with Vintgar Gorge only 1km away. If it's a more relaxed experience you are after then The Red House, Spodnje Gorje comes fully equiped with a large screen plasma TV, DVD and video player, over 300 TV channels to choose from. Plus an extensive supply of DVD's to watch and a good supply of books to leaf through.

LOCATION

The Bled area is surrounded by beautiful scenery and things to do from walks around the lovely Vintgar Gorge and various hills surrounding the lake to great mountain walking and mountain biking on the Pokljuka Plateau, kayaking, canyoning and rafting on the Sava River and its tributaries, as well of course as swimming and boating on Lake Bled itself. The Red House, Spodnje Gorje is in a great postion to access a extensive array of activities and leisure pursuits. Bordering Triglav National Park allows for some wonderful walking trails in close proximity to The Red House, Spodnje Gorje. The Bled area is a great place to be based for exploring Slovenia's many ski areas - there is a small resort in the town itself but most skiers based in Bled visit the excellent resorts of Vogel, Krvavec & Kranjska Gora which are each half an hour's drive away (or there is a ski bus from Bled to Vogel / Krvavec). Bled is in a fantastic position for exploring Slovenia’s many sights with plenty of easy day trips possible including stunning Lake Bohinj just 25 minutes away, Slovenia’s pretty capital Ljubljana and the medieval town of Skofja Loka each just 45 minutes drive away.

There is a ski bus from Bled to Krvavec that runs only during the ski season, only on weekends, departing at 9am and returning at 4pm. There is also a ski bus that runs from Bled to Vogel, only during the ski season on days that are suitable for skiing and the ski centre is open. Departing Bled at 9am and returning from Vogel at 4pm. You will also find bus connections from Bled to a variety of destinations in Slovenia.

The nearest train station is 4km away at Lesce Bled.

 

LAYOUT - FACILITIES - FLOOR PLANS

The Red House, Spodnje Gorje offers a very comfortable standard of accommodation in lovely surrounds. The house can sleep up to 8 people (including 3 children). There are three generously proportioned bedrooms, each with river views comfortably sleeping six, with the additional persons occuping a childs cot in one of the bedrooms and a small double sofabed in the living room. A safety gate for children has been installed at the top of the stairs. The kitchen, dining, living room form an open plan and allow seating for up to 12 in the living room and 10 to dine. A large plasma TV affords the chance to enjoy over 300 TV channels or to watch one of the movies from the extensive DVD collection. If reading is the preferred pursuit, then choose from two fully loaded book cases, both adult and children reading alike. A CD player and speakers with connection point for an Ipod extend the range of leisure options. In addition there are a number of books and maps of the local area so that you might plan the following days activities. Just a short walk from the house you can enjoy good quality restaurants offering locally caught trout and outdoor dining with great views of the area. Also available at the house is an outside seating and BBQ area.

The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and has a hob, oven, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, kettle. A large wooden table with benches provides a more informal sitting area where you can drink your morning coffee, plan the day’s excursions or just gaze at the river views outside.

Living Room

The living room is a large seating and dining area, with a traditional tile stove for additional winter warmth. It’s a great place to eat, play cards or watch the river from the windows. There is a large plasma TV, DVD and video, and over 300 TV channels mean you can unwind and while away a couple of hours with a film. There is a wide selection of DVDs for different tastes. There is also a CD player with speakers which you can plug an iPod into. Here there is seating for 12.

Prices are based on a minimum stay of 3 / 4 / 5 / 7 nights dependent on the season, with shorter stays considered on request and possibly subject to a supplement.
