INTRODUCTION

Pokrovec Cottage is a charming 2 bedroom traditional wooden holiday chalet with garden in a wonderful peaceful location at 1100m above sea level on the Pokljuka Plateau above Lake Bohinj. The house is an ideal place to unwind - located in the midst of beautiful unspoilt alpine pastures and forests with wonderful mountain views and stunning walking and biking from the doorstep. Lake Bohinj is 20 minutes drive away and skiing at Vogel a little further. The property is newly renovated and with plenty of quality carpentry, and attractive fittings and furnishings.

The Pokljuka Plateau offers magnificent walking and biking and arguably Slovenia's best cross country skiing trails in Winter. The cottage has been recently renovated and newly equipped to a comfortable standard with flat screen TV and internet among the many features as well as outdoor seating area and lovely garden. A lovely base from which to explore Slovenia’s enchanting Lakes Region.

LOCATION

Located in the Koprivnik / Podjelje region of Pokljuka at 1100m above sea level, Pokrovec Cottage is well situated to take advantage of the attractions of the Pokljuka Plateau (10 minutes drive to the Sport Hotel on the top of Pokljuka) and Lake Bohinj in the other direction (20 minutes drive to the Lake). Surrounded by idyllic alpine pastures and forests and with wonderful views down towards the Bohinj Valley on one side and just a scattering of other chalets in the vicinity it is a wonderful peaceful location for just putting your feet up and realxing in pure nature or equally for more active pursuits of which there are a huge amount, including wonderful walking and biking right from the doorstep of the cottage. The property is within the Triglav National Park. Lake Bohinj itself is a serene lake surrounded by towering peaks and pristine forests considered by many to be the most beautiful part of Slovenia. In summer the Lake offers the opportunity for kayaking, sailing and rowing, as well as fly-fishing, swimming or just relaxing on the lake shore. The mountains of Lake Bohinj are fantastic for walking and arguably the best place to start climbs up Slovenia's highest mountain, Triglav. They also offer scope for great mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding as well as skiing.

The ski resort Vogel above Lake Bohinj is one of Slovenia’s best with good lift infrastructure and snow record. It is 5-10 minutes drive from the house to the Vogel cable car, which is also open in the summer giving easy access to high altitude walking and mountain biking. There is a wide range of other ski areas in Slovenia / Italy / Austria within day trip distance from the property. Please click here for a map / guide to these resorts. The nearest town is Bohinjska Bistrica (circa 20 minutes drive) which also offers a modern water park with ample pool and spa facilities as well as a range of useful amenities including shops, bars, restaurants & bank. 20 minutes drive away from the house is world famous Lake Bled.

In Summer months there is a tourist bus service running between Bled and Bohinj via Pokljuka that goes relatively close to the house. There are regular bus services through the year serving Koprivnik which is a village a few kilometres from the house.

20 minute drive to the nearest railway station in Bohinjska Bistrica with connections around Slovenia including the wonderful car train to Most Na Soci a wonderful way to get to the Soca Valley for a day trip.

 

LAYOUT - FACILITIES - FLOOR PLANS

Pokrovec Cottage, Pokljuka, Lake Bohinj offers a comfortable homely alpine style and standard of accommodation for groups of up to 6. The property is newly renovated and with plenty of quality carpentry, and attractive fittings and furnishings. On the ground floor is an entry area with lovely covered outside dining table, bathroom with shower, and open plan living room / kitchen / dining room. Stairs lead from the living area to the loft floor which offers master bedroom with double bed and additional bedroom with 3 beds. Surrounding the property is a spacious garden area and 2 outbuildings (barn and hayrack) belonging to the house.

Please note: (1) that the second bedroom is reached by passing through the master bedroom (2) the house is heated via a large wood burner and guests will have to keep the wood burner going in order to stay warm! (wood is provided).
