LOCATION

The Goriska Brda wine growing region tucked into a hilly enclave overlooking Italian Friuli is one of Slovenia's best kept secrets and the Belica Estate in the lovely village of Medana is one of the jewels in its crown. Like most of the villages of the Brda, Medana is a charming old stone hilltop village. It is also home to some of Slovenia's best wineries and it seems as if the entire population of the place has dedicated their life to the production, appreciation and sale of wine. The views of the surrounding countryside from Medana are wonderful and just a few kilometres away is the "capital" of the Brda - Dobrovo, with is imposing castle. From the Goriska Brda it is an easy day trip to Alps or Adriatic with the Italian Adriatic and the Slovenian Julian Alps each just 40km. The Soca River Valley and Karst wine growing region are two other major attractions in easy reach. Daytrips to Ljubljana, world famous caves at Postiojna and Venice are all easily possible. THE ACCOMMODATION

The Belica Estate offers a very high standard of accommodation with stylish rooms all individually fitted and furnished with plenty of exposed wood beams, stone walls and features and antique furnishings. There is a lovely terrace for Summer months, a sitting room with open fire and exceptional eating and drinking. A swimming pool completes an wonderful all round experience.

Restaurant / bar	The hotel focuses around the estate winery serving a wonderful selection of wines which can be drunk in the bar, living room, terrace, cellar and probably anywhere else you like! The focus is also on fine food with homemade bread, salamis & hams, olive oil and vinegars and locally sourced meats and cheeses. The restaurant itself is atmospheric and the Summer terrace delightful. One of our favourite places to eat and drink in Slovenia!
